Interaction of Gravitational Waves with Quantum Coherent Systems

چکیده

Accelerating masses are predicted to emit radiation as gravitational waves. It has been suggested that these waves may interact differently with quantum mechanical systems than with classical matter. The possibility that a quantum system may act as a novel transducer between electromagnetism and gravitational waves is investigated. A proposed mechanism for interconversion between the two fields is studied whereby a term due to the presence of the gravitational field appears in the Hamiltonian of the quantum mechanical system. The term is analogous to the vector potential of the electromagnetic field to which it is seen to couple.

On the interaction of mesoscopic quantum systems with gravity

We review the different aspects of the interaction of mesoscopic quantum systems with gravitational fields. We first discuss briefly the foundations of general relativity and quantum mechanics. Then, we consider the non-relativistic expansions of the Klein-Gordon and Dirac equations in the post-Newtonian approximation. After a short overview of classical gravitational waves, we discuss two prop...

Conceptual tensions between quantum mechanics and general relativity: Are there experimental consequences?

One of the conceptual tensions between quantum mechanics (QM) and general relativity (GR) arises from the clash between the spatial nonseparability of entangled states in QM, and the complete spatial separability of all physical systems in GR, i.e., between the nonlocality implied by the superposition principle, and the locality implied by the equivalence principle. Possible experimental conseq...

Statistics of Exciton Emission in a Semiconductor Microcavity: Detuning and Exciton-Exciton Effects

We consider the interaction of quantum light with an ideal semiconductor microcavity. We investigate photon statistics in different conditions and the presence of detuning and exciton-exciton interaction. We show that in the resonant interaction and absence of the exciton-exciton interaction, the state of the whole system can be considered as   coherent state. According to our results, it turns...

امواج گرانشی حرارتی در فاز شتاب‌دار کیهان

Gravitational waves are considered in thermal vacuum state. The amplitude and spectral energy density of gravitational waves are found enhanced in thermal vacuum state compared to its zero temperature counterpart. Therefore, the allowed amount of enhancement depends on the upper bound of WMAP-5 and WMAP-7 for the amplitude and spectral energy density of gravitational waves. The enhancement of ...
